Geologic Modeling and Interactive Pit Design System
PolyMap is an interactive graphical input
and display program for both geologic data and open pit mine design. Although
MicroMODEL has a basic set of digitizing programs that are sometimes sufficient,
PolyMap adds powerful interactive graphics capabilities to MicroMODEL. PolyMap
is currently available as a Windows 98/2000/NT/XP application.
PolyMap allows the user to digitize and
display complex geology. Geology can be digitized in sections or plans, and the
intercepts from one set of maps can be easily transferred to another set (for
example, section to plan). A direct interface exists which allows the user to
update the MicroMODEL 3-D geology model from either section outlines or plan
view outlines. PolyMap allows the geologist to work in the more traditional
environment of 2-D sections and plans rather than using the more complicated and
sometimes wasteful practice of trying to create 3-D wireframe models.
The interactive pit design program in
PolyMap allows the user to design open pits using single or multiple benching,
variable slopes (by rock type), and variable road grades and widths. A
background display of color-coded blocks can be used to show grade values or net
profit values. The user may also display floating cone outlines, or the outlines
of previous mining phases.
Geology plots and pit plots from PolyMap
are 100% compatible with MicroMODEL. For example, overlays of drillhole section
plots and geology, or grade block values with pit outlines are easily created.
